Wicklow Town is the capital Town of County Wicklow, which is known as The Garden of Ireland.  It is located 30 miles south of Co Dublin on the East Coast of Ireland. The area around Wicklow Town boasts spectacular sandy beaches, colourful public gardens, an enriched Historical Heritage, all levels of walking trails and an active, commercial Harbour.

Wicklow Town is well serviced by both bus and rail services. The Town is easily accessible for commuters from Dublin, on the Dublin to Wexford Rail Service and an hourly Bus Service from Dublin.

Wicklow Town hosts a number of festivals throughout the year including the Wicklow Arts Festival, The Wicklow Regatta Festival, Halloween Horror Week in Wicklow Gaol, Christmas at the Coach House, Santa's Magical Kingdom and Wicklow's St. Patrick's Day Parade of course!  It is from Wicklow Harbour every two years that the Round Ireland Yacht Race begins and ends.  To coincide with this prestigious Yacht Race the Town now organises a Festival which is known as the Round Ireland Sailfest with the slogan "Come on down to Wicklow Town!!

Wicklow Town is a Town steeped in history.  The Town was a major Viking settlement following on the Norman invasion and the Black Castle overlooking Wicklow Harbour still stands proudly as a testament to that period. No visit would be complete without a visit to Wicklow's Historical Gaol which was built in 1702 and up to 1924 held many important prisoners during a very troubled period in Irish history.  It is now recognised as the most haunted place in Ireland.

The most important Mariner of the 19th century, Captain Robert Halpin was born in Wicklow Town.  He was the man who laid the first transatlantic cable from Ireland to America.  Why not follow the Halpin Trail which will inform you fully about the life and times of this important Irishman!
